Brian Paco Alvarez was born on March 1, 1974, in Las Vegas, Nevada. His parents, Jose Alvarez and Lidia Novau, originally from Argentina moved to Las Vegas in 1969 via New York City. Brian's interest in museums came at an early age. While traveling to New York City Brian was exposed to the arts by his cousin David, first visiting the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It was not until he began his final years at the university that his interest in the museum field was solidified. Brian first worked as a student intern and later as a volunteer at the Liberace Museum. While still a student at UNLV Brian was offered a position at the Liberace Museum as a museum assistant and later promoted to museum collections manager. During his tenure at the museum Brian worked hard to preserve and protect the museums delicate collection of artifacts by being a contributing member of the museums 1.5 million dollar expansion and remodel. In 2002 he was promoted to curator of collection and in 2003 left the museum to begin his own cultural consulting firm. Since leaving the Liberace Museum Brian has completed projects for the Casino Legends Hall of Fame, Siegfried and Roy, Neon Museum, City of Las Vegas, Hispanic Museum of Nevada, Nevada State Museum and Historical Society. Currently Brian is the Curator of the Hispanic Museum of Nevada, Vice-President of the Contemporary Arts Collective, volunteers at the Neon Museum, enjoys painting and playing Afro-Caribbean drums.
